A Ukrainian missile strike on Russia’s Belgorod region has resulted in at least six fatalities and several injuries. The attack targeted the village of Koloskovo in the Valuysky district on Monday, damaging structures and vehicles in the area. Among the wounded were four individuals, including a 14-year-old child. Regional officials confirmed the incident occurred approximately 15 kilometers from Ukraine’s northeastern border.
In response, Russian forces launched coordinated missile and drone operations across Ukrainian territory, claiming at least four lives and injuring 19 people. Multiple regions experienced attacks, including Zaporizhia in the southeast, Sumy in the northeast, and Dnipropetrovsk in central Ukraine. Southern regions of Kherson and Odesa also came under fire, with infrastructure in the Izmail district sustaining damage. A civilian vessel flying a Togo flag was impacted during strikes on port facilities near the Romanian border.
These reciprocal attacks reflect an intensifying pattern of long-range strikes between the two nations. With frontline combat largely stalled and peace negotiations frozen, both countries have significantly escalated missile operations. Ukraine reported 437 civilian deaths in July alone, marking the highest monthly toll since the conflict’s early stages in 2022. Russia claimed 79 civilian casualties from Ukrainian attacks during the same period, representing an increase from previous months.
