The Party Film Sales has secured broadcast agreements across multiple European territories for the French documentary “Tax Me (If You Can),” directed by Thomas Lafarge. Public broadcasters in Spain, Switzerland, Slovenia, and Finland have committed to airing the film, which explores wealth inequality and taxation policy. The deals were finalized ahead of the documentary’s debut on Arte France’s streaming platform and television channel later this month.
Lafarge, known for his investigative work on corporate power, developed the film around an unusual narrative angle: wealthy individuals advocating for higher taxes on the rich. The documentary examines how fortunes among the ultra-wealthy have expanded over two decades while exploring emerging movements led by economists and philanthropists calling for tax reform. The film will be available in both a 52-minute feature format and as a two-part series.
The sales team highlighted the rapid international interest as particularly significant given current pressures facing public broadcasters. According to co-head of sales Estelle de Araujo, the swift acquisition by major European networks demonstrates genuine editorial appetite for documentaries addressing inequality and taxation—subjects increasingly relevant to contemporary political debates.
Lafarge disclosed that convincing wealthy individuals to participate proved challenging, despite their public support for higher taxes. Concerns about personal risk and financial exposure made even reform-minded affluent participants cautious about discussing their wealth on camera, the director explained.
