Arsenal have opened discussions with Galatasaray regarding the potential acquisition of Victor Osimhen, as the north London club seeks to strengthen its attacking options. The enquiry comes amid broader negotiations between the two clubs involving Arsenal players Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri, with the Gunners exploring whether player-plus-cash arrangements could facilitate an agreement for the Nigerian striker.
Galatasaray have submitted a €45 million offer for Martinelli, though Arsenal are considering whether outgoing players could be used as part of a package deal for Osimhen. The Turkish champions have also expressed interest in midfielder Nwaneri, who recently concluded a loan spell at Marseille and is currently evaluating his future options.
Osimhen has established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific forwards during his time in Turkey, recording an impressive 59 goals across 74 appearances over two seasons. His Champions League performances last term were particularly notable, with seven goals in ten matches demonstrating his capability at the highest level of European competition.
The move would represent a significant statement from Arsenal, particularly following their unsuccessful pursuits of other attacking targets. Galatasaray have already rejected a substantial €130 million proposal from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal for Osimhen earlier this week, signalling their reluctance to sell without substantial compensation or attractive alternative arrangements.
