Apple TV emerged as the dominant force at this year’s Emmy Awards, claiming 28 total trophies and securing the top position among streaming platforms. The historic achievement marks the first time Apple has led the Emmy count, signaling significant growth for the tech company in the entertainment industry.
“Widow’s Bay,” an Apple TV comedy series, drove much of the platform’s success by becoming the most-awarded show of the night with 14 wins total. The series had already accumulated eight awards during the previous week’s Creative Arts Emmys ceremony, including recognition for guest actress Betty Gilpin and achievements in casting and music supervision. On Monday’s primetime broadcast, the show swept every category in which it was nominated, adding six more trophies including outstanding comedy series and wins for lead actor Matthew Rhys and supporting actors Stephen Root and Kate O’Flynn. This performance established a new record for the most Emmy wins earned by any comedy series in a single year.
HBO Max secured second place with 21 Emmy awards, benefiting from strong performances by “DTF St. Louis” and “The Pitt,” each earning seven trophies. Netflix followed in third position with 16 wins distributed across multiple programs including “Beef,” “Bridgerton,” and “Love on the Spectrum.” This represents only the second time in two decades that a platform other than HBO Max or Netflix has achieved the top Emmy ranking.
