Anthony Boyle, known for his role in “House of Guinness” and upcoming Netflix project “The Altruists,” will headline the new Sky Original drama series “Charmer.” The eight-episode production, currently being filmed, is a collaboration between Working Title Television and Story Films. The cast also features Siena Kelly, Connor Swindells, and Sophie Wilde, alongside ensemble members including Neil Maskell, Polly Walker, and Sam Delich.
The series centers on Ryan, a character played by Boyle who works as a professional seducer hired to assess the loyalty of his wealthy clients’ romantic partners. When a particularly important assignment approaches a wedding date, the boundaries between Ryan’s professional role and personal feelings begin to blur. The narrative explores what happens when his carefully maintained emotional distance crumbles, forcing the protagonist to confront his own rule against romantic involvement.
Created and written by Thomas Aspell, “Charmer” will be directed by Elliot Hegarty, whose previous directorial work includes “Rivals,” “Ted Lasso,” and “Bad Education.” Additional writing contributions come from Melissa Bubnic, Constance Cheng, and Anna Ssemuyaba, with Dionne Edwards directing additional episodes. The series will air on Sky and Now in the United Kingdom and Italy, with international distribution handled by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution.
