Andy Williams, the founding rhythm guitarist of metalcore band Every Time I Die, has died at age 48. Williams collapsed at the conclusion of a tag team wrestling match on Saturday at an Enjoy Wrestling event in Millvale, Pennsylvania. Medical staff at the venue immediately provided CPR before he was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead later that evening. The cause of death remains under investigation by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Williams had an extensive career with Every Time I Die spanning over two decades. He joined the Buffalo-based band at its inception in 1998 and remained a core member through their 2022 breakup, contributing to all nine studio albums including their final release in 2021. His work as the band’s rhythm guitarist helped establish their influential presence in the metalcore genre throughout the 2000s and 2010s.
Beyond his musical contributions, Williams successfully transitioned into professional wrestling during the 2010s. Wrestling under the name “The Butcher,” he debuted in All Elite Wrestling in 2019 and competed in both AEW and its affiliate Ring of Honor until June 2026. He frequently teamed with fellow wrestler Jesse “The Blade” Guilmette, including during his final match on Saturday. Following Every Time I Die’s disbandment, Williams also performed with the group Atomic Rule, posting about new music development just hours before his death.
