Emmy Award-winning comedian Amy Schumer is set to headline and produce an upcoming comedy film titled “Best Divorce Ever.” The project marks a collaboration between Schumer and writer-director Sean Mullin, known for his previous works including “Bob Trevino Likes It” and “Amira & Sam.” Concourse Media will handle international sales efforts beginning at the Toronto film festival next month.
The film follows characters Clarissa and Franklin, who end their two-decade marriage but remain committed to maintaining their relationship outside of wedlock. After organizing a celebration of their separation, the pair navigates the challenges of single life, including dating mishaps and parenting complications. What they discover is that dissolving the marriage proves simpler than preserving their family bond through unconventional means.
Schumer is producing the project alongside Matthew Lee Miller and Natalie Metzger of Vanishing Angle, a production company behind several acclaimed comedies. Concourse Media and its sister company, Archetype Media Finance, will also serve in executive producer and financing roles. Mullin drew inspiration for the script from his own amicable divorce, aiming to reshape how society views the dissolution of marriages.
The actress brings significant accomplishments to the role, including her Emmy-winning series “Inside Amy Schumer” and recent work on Netflix’s “Kinda Pregnant” and Hulu’s “Life & Beth.”
