Prime Video has announced a September premiere date for “Don’t Be Shy,” a coming-of-age romantic comedy produced by sisters Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt through their production company Eternal Sunshine Productions. Directed and written by Sreeti Mukerji, the film will launch globally on the streaming platform with Hindi language audio and English subtitles, reaching audiences across India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The movie features four newcomers in leading roles: Aarushi Bajaj, Ansh Duggal, Bianca Arora, and Piyush Khati. Supporting cast members include established actors Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia, and Anju Alva Naik. The narrative explores themes central to young adulthood, including friendship dynamics, romantic relationships, emotional pain, and the journey of self-discovery that defines the teenage and early adult years.
Nikhil Madhok, director and head of originals for Prime Video in India, expressed enthusiasm about the project, highlighting the fresh talent brought by the four newcomers and praising the creative direction from Mukerji and the Bhatt sisters. The production team, which includes co-producers Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani, aims to deliver an authentic and emotionally resonant portrayal of growing up.
Eternal Sunshine Productions, founded in 2021 by the Bhatt sisters, has established itself as a notable production banner in Indian cinema. Beyond “Don’t Be Shy,” the company’s upcoming projects include the Emmy-winning series “Poacher” and the action-adventure film “Jigra,” demonstrating the company’s commitment to diverse storytelling.
