FX’s ensemble comedy series “Adults” has demonstrated strong momentum heading into its second season, with viewership climbing substantially compared to its inaugural run. According to Disney, the show attracted 40% more viewers in Season 2 than Season 1 across both Hulu and Disney+ during the first 12 days of availability worldwide. The growth was particularly pronounced internationally, where viewership more than doubled at 100% higher numbers than the previous season.
The increased viewership has coincided with a notable critical reassessment of the series. Season 2 earned a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, jumping from the 77% rating Season 1 received. Critics noted that the sophomore season, created by former “Tonight Show” writers Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw, benefits from improved chemistry among its ensemble cast members and a more refined comedic voice than the show’s earlier episodes.
Season 1 has also experienced renewed interest following the release of the prequel episode “Marathon Day” in July, which boosted streaming viewership for the inaugural season by 50%. The series follows five twenty-something New Yorkers navigating relationships, careers and friendship while living together in Manhattan. The production features executive producers including Nick Kroll and is produced by FX Productions.
