ABC News has launched Searched, a new livestreamed program that curates news stories based on what people are actively searching for online and discussing across social media platforms. The show officially premiered in April on ABC News Live, which is available through Disney Plus and Hulu, though the network only recently made a formal announcement about the program.
According to ABC News, Searched uses real-time data from major search engines and social media networks to identify and report on trending topics of interest to viewers. Recent episodes have covered stories ranging from lottery winners to celebrity news and weather events. The half-hour program airs on weekdays and is hosted by ABC News correspondents Gio Benitez and Ashan Singh, with episode archives available on the ABC News YouTube channel.
The streaming-exclusive show reflects the network’s response to shifting media consumption habits, as traditional broadcast television viewership continues to decline and more audiences turn to social media for news. Searched joins three other new programs launching on ABC News Live: All Access with Linsey Davis, Burden of Proof, and Doctor’s Note, as the network expands its streaming presence.
