Orel Hershiser has leveraged his prominent role as a broadcaster for the Los Angeles Dodgers to transform himself into a successful entrepreneur. The baseball legend acknowledges that while his storied playing career provides credibility, remaining visible and engaged in current ventures is essential to maintaining relevance and opportunity in the business world.
Beyond the broadcast booth, Hershiser has expanded into the automotive sector, partnering with businessman Eddie Allizadeh to acquire and reopen M.K. Smith Chevrolet in Chino in May. The dealership marks a significant venture into an industry entirely new to the former pitcher, who has demonstrated his characteristic competitiveness and hands-on management style in this unfamiliar territory.
The Legends Attic, a sports memorabilia shop that opened in 2024 in Claremont, represents Hershiser’s other major business endeavor. The store functions as both a museum-style exhibition of his personal career achievements and a retail destination for collectible items from various sports figures and cities. Allizadeh, who initially approached Hershiser five years ago with a different proposal, has become his trusted business partner, with the two collaborating across multiple ventures.
Hershiser’s success in transitioning from athletics to business demonstrates his ability to apply the same determination that defined his playing career to entrepreneurial challenges. His continued presence in the public eye through broadcasting has proven instrumental in establishing the platform necessary for these diverse business opportunities.
