ZZ Top’s highly anticipated Hollywood Bowl performance has been postponed due to health concerns affecting the band’s long-time drummer Frank Beard. The cancellation came after the group cited “insurmountable obstacles” in a statement released on their social media channels, with frontman Billy Gibbons expressing gratitude for fan patience during what he described as a temporary disruption.
Despite Beard’s absence, the legendary rock band has no plans to halt their touring momentum. Band members Billy Gibbons and Elwood Francis will move forward with their current tour schedule, with drummer Michael Monahan stepping in as a replacement. This decision allows ZZ Top to maintain their performance calendar while Beard focuses on his recovery.
Beard’s health setback marks the second time in recent years that the drummer has needed to step away from the band. The musician, who has held the drummer position for more than five decades since 1971, previously took a temporary break last year for medical reasons. The band’s “The Big One” tour is slated to continue across North America with multiple upcoming dates scheduled throughout the remaining months of the year.
