Designer Willy Chavarria is reimagining the iconic Ugg brand through a bold new collaboration launching September 10. The New York-based designer has transformed Ugg’s signature aesthetic by swapping soft suede and shearling for edgy black leather, metallic hardware, and motorcycle-inspired designs. The unisex collection represents a significant departure from the brand’s traditional comfort-focused identity, introducing a distinctly rebellious edge to the California footwear company’s portfolio.
The collection features five footwear styles at varying price points, including the premium Guard Boot at $800, designed with reinforced shin protection and a molded toe cap. Additional pieces range from the $500 Biker Boot to the $190 Hotel Chavarria Slipper, which reimagines a classic hotel amenity in leather with the designer’s signature crest. Several boots draw inspiration from Ugg’s archival Birch Collection from 1999. Complementary items include graphic tees and socks completing the lineup.
The collaboration launches alongside an advertising campaign titled “Ugg and Kisses,” featuring entertainers Becky G, Danny Trejo, Eva Longoria, and singer-songwriter Ivan Cornejo. The campaign celebrates Chavarria’s Mexican American heritage, presenting the celebrities as contemporary Latino family members in a style loosely referencing classic television. Chavarria, who established his label in 2015, has recently expanded his influence through partnerships with major brands including Adidas and Zara, while also designing collections for the Mexican national World Cup team.
