Will Poulter will receive special recognition at the 35th annual Heartland Film Festival, taking place in Indianapolis from October 8-18. The acclaimed actor will attend a dedicated screening of his drama “Union County,” produced by Oscilloscope Laboratories, on October 17, followed by an awards brunch honoring his contributions to cinema.
In “Union County,” Poulter stars alongside Noah Centineo as brothers Cody and Jack Parsons who are working through a court-ordered rehabilitation program while dealing with the opioid crisis affecting their rural Ohio community. The film represents one of several notable selections included in this year’s festival programming.
The Heartland Film Festival’s 35th edition will present over 100 independent films, including 24 world and U.S. premieres and 36 regional premieres. Notable selections include the opening night premiere of the Jimmy Stewart biography “Jimmy,” the centerpiece feature “Wild Horse Nine,” and closing night presentation “The Debut,” alongside acclaimed documentaries and narrative features such as “Elsinore,” “I Play Rocky,” and “La Bola Negra.”
Founded in 1991, Heartland Film is a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating thoughtful filmmaking from diverse perspectives. The festival has distributed $4 million in cash awards—the largest amount given by any North American film festival—and previously showcased more than 2,000 feature and short films.
