The Iberseries & Platino Industria Co-Production and Financing Forum has established its first-ever selection committee in the event’s five-year history. The panel includes prominent industry figures: Ventana Sur and BloodWindow founder Bernardo Bergeret, showrunner Joanna Lombardi, and TV Film International partner Karina Dolgiej. The committee curated 40 projects according to criteria including financial viability, international potential, secured financing of at least 30 percent, co-production prospects, and distinctive market appeal.
The forum has demonstrated considerable success in advancing projects to completion and distribution. Over the past five years, nearly 20 television and feature projects initially presented at the event have secured funding, been produced, and released across Ibero-American markets. Notable successes include Chilean series “Patagonia” premiering on Movistar Plus+ and feature “Red Hangar,” which premiered at the Berlinale and was selected as Chile’s submission for the Goya Awards.
This year’s selection reflects genre diversity, encompassing mystery thrillers, horror, comedies, sports dramas, and historical narratives. Standout projects include the exorcism thriller “1999,” selected for Sitges’ Fantastic 7, and the animated series “Archipelago,” which combines dystopian science fiction with strong international co-production potential. The Co-Production Forum will convene September 30 through October 1 in Madrid, hosting private meetings for feature and series projects.
