UMusic, an affiliate of Universal Music Group, is launching its inaugural United States hotel in Austin, Texas, positioning the city as the ideal location for this ambitious hospitality venture. Austin’s reputation as a premier music destination made it a natural choice for the company’s expansion into the American market, following the success of their Madrid property.
The development will encompass a five-star resort featuring 150 guest rooms alongside 600 private residences, establishing it as both a luxury destination and a residential community. The centerpiece of the project is the White Rocks Amphitheater, an open-air venue with 10,000-seat capacity inspired by iconic performance spaces like Colorado’s Red Rocks and the Hollywood Bowl. The limestone bluffs surrounding Austin inspired the amphitheater’s distinctive name and design.
Beyond the main stage, the property will offer comprehensive entertainment and wellness facilities, including an intimate indoor performance venue, recording studios, nightclub, comedy club, restaurants, spa services, and a Las Vegas-style beach club. The development prioritizes sustainability, targeting the city’s 100% water reuse goal while incorporating native landscape restoration and energy-efficient infrastructure.
UMusic has also established a permanent endowment to support Austin’s performing arts community and announced the White Rocks Collab, a downtown artist development space offering creative support and performance opportunities for musicians. Company leadership emphasized that the project aims to celebrate Austin’s cultural influence while creating a comprehensive ecosystem where performance, wellness, nature, and community converge.
