Investigation Discovery has announced that the second season of “Toxic,” the true crime series hosted by Elizabeth Chambers, will premiere on September 15. The show examines the nature of harmful romantic relationships and the lasting impact they have on those involved. New episodes will air weekly on Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT, with simultaneous streaming available on HBO Max.
The upcoming season will feature several high-profile cases exploring domestic abuse and intimate partner violence. The premiere episode, titled “Don’t Go Home,” chronicles the relationship between Jenn Holman and Jesse Winnick, which deteriorated from initial attraction into a dangerous dynamic. Additional episodes will cover stories involving alleged abuse within a religious community, a marriage marked by significant age disparity and sexual violation, and the murder of University of Virginia lacrosse player Yeardley Love by her boyfriend.
Chambers, who is also an investigative journalist and survivor advocate, has stated that her personal experiences with toxic relationships motivated her to explore these stories. In the newly released trailer, she emphasizes her commitment to connecting with survivors and documenting their journeys. The series, produced by Breaklight Pictures, originally premiered in April 2025 and builds on its foundation of providing detailed accounts from survivors, their families, and loved ones affected by relationship violence.
