Eight prominent Japanese entertainment companies will showcase their intellectual property to international producers at the second annual Tokyo IP Market: Adaptation & Remake this October. The event, held October 28-30 as part of TIFFCOM 2026, will feature one-on-one meetings and public pitching sessions where filmmakers from Hollywood, Europe, and Asia can explore adaptation and remake opportunities for Japanese manga, novels, and films.
This year’s participating companies include Toei, Shochiku, Kadokawa, Square Enix, Nihon Bungeisha, Nippon Animation, Amuse Creative Studio, and Shufu to Seikatsu Sha. The roster represents growth from the inaugural event last year, which included six companies. Shochiku will present its extensive catalog spanning from classic works by director Yasujiro Ozu to contemporary productions, while Toei brings experience from previous international adaptations including “Power Rangers” and “Yolo.”
The marketplace emerged from the Tokyo Story Market, which debuted at TIFFCOM in 2023 focused solely on manga and novel adaptations. After expanding last year to include studios and production companies, the platform rebranded as TIPM. The initiative expanded beyond Japan for the first time in May when seven companies presented at the Cannes Film Market. TIFFCOM runs alongside the Tokyo International Film Festival, which begins October 26.
