Global Constellation, the international sales division of Vuelta, has acquired worldwide sales rights to an upcoming documentary about legendary Italian film composer Nino Rota. The film, titled “Nino: A Film About Nino Rota,” will make its global debut at the Venice Film Festival as part of the Official Selection Out of Competition program.
Directed by Walter Fasano, a renowned film editor known for his work with filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, the documentary takes an experimental approach to examining Rota’s life and artistic contributions. The project features narration by Grammy Award-winning musician Sting and includes interviews with prominent figures in cinema and music, such as Oscar-winning composer Alexandre Desplat and filmmaker Park Chan-wook, providing insight into Rota’s lasting influence on contemporary creators.
Rota’s compositional legacy spans some of cinema’s most celebrated works. He scored both “The Godfather” films, earning an Academy Award for his work on the sequel, and collaborated extensively with filmmaker Federico Fellini on classics including “La Dolce Vita,” “8½,” and “Amarcord.” His contributions also extend to Luchino Visconti’s “The Leopard,” cementing his status as one of cinema’s most essential musical voices.
The documentary is produced by a coalition of Italian production companies and broadcasters, with plans for Italian distribution handled through Be Water Film and Adler Entertainment alongside support from regional cultural organizations.
