Netflix has greenlit a spinoff series based on the popular supernatural drama “Manifest,” which originally aired on NBC before finding new life on the streaming platform. The new show, titled “Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery,” will explore a fresh narrative within the same universe as the original series, which captivated audiences with its premise of a plane that vanished and reappeared five years later with passengers who hadn’t aged.
The creative team behind the original “Manifest” will return to develop the spinoff, with series creator Jeff Rake serving as showrunner alongside co-creators Margaret Easley and Laura Putney. Warner Bros. Television will produce the project. According to the show’s logline, the story follows mysterious plane crash survivors in Denver who have no recollection of their identities or origins, prompting a social worker and Homeland Security agent to help uncover the truth while discovering their own connection to the puzzle.
Netflix strategically announced the project on August 28 at 8:28 a.m., a nod to Flight 828 from the original series, which held symbolic significance throughout the show’s run. The original “Manifest” premiered on NBC in 2018 before cancellation, only to be revived by Netflix for a final season.
