Filmmaker Steven Soderbergh has partnered with British arthouse cinema chain Everyman and Bolivian brandy producer Singani 63 to launch an exclusive screening series in London. Running from September 3 through October 30, “A Man Under the Influence: 63 Days of Steven Soderbergh’s Selects” will take place at The Whiteley, featuring nine classic films personally curated by the director, with one film representing each decade of cinema history.
The weekly Thursday night events combine Soderbergh’s two passions: influential cinema and the Bolivian spirit. Attendees will begin with a 63-minute happy hour showcasing Singani 63 cocktails before entering the theater. Once inside, viewers can order a specially designed cocktail inspired by each week’s featured film, created in collaboration with different London bars. Soderbergh will introduce each film via exclusive video message. The lineup includes classics such as “Jaws,” “Fargo,” “Lost in Translation,” and “Phantom Thread.”
The London program follows a successful inaugural run in New York earlier this year. Soderbergh’s connection to Singani 63 dates back to 2007 when filming in Bolivia, leading to a partnership with the Granier family’s Casa Real distillery in 2009. Series attendees will be the first to sample the “Spiced Soderbergh Sour,” a bespoke signature cocktail that will later roll out to all 49 Everyman locations across the United Kingdom. The spirit will also be featured at independent drinks retailer Amathus’s 15 stores with special promotions and tastings.
