Sony’s Spider-Man film continues its commanding performance at the U.K. and Ireland box office, securing the top position for the third week running. The superhero release accumulated £6.1 million during its latest weekend, bringing its total earnings to $106.5 million since its debut three weeks ago.
Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” maintained its second-place standing in its fifth week of release, collecting $5 million and reaching a cumulative total of $93.4 million. Meanwhile, Warner Bros.’ new drama featuring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor debuted in third position with $2.8 million from its opening weekend.
Additional entries in the top ten included a music documentary event release from Trafalgar Releasing and the second-weekend performance of Paramount’s family film, which claimed fourth and fifth positions respectively. Disney’s animated sequel and Universal’s creature feature rounded out the upper tier of the rankings in their respective weeks of release.
Looking ahead, several theatrical releases are scheduled for the coming weeks, including a horror sequel and action film with Jason Statham set for wide distribution. Independent releases and repertory screenings of classic films are also planned for the upcoming frame.
