Nicholas Weinstock, known for his work as an executive producer on Apple TV+’s “Severance,” has joined the production team of “Tongue,” an Indian fantasy-horror film. The project is written and directed by Krishnarjun Bhattacharya and features actress Sayani Gupta in a leading role. Weinstock is producing through his company Invention Studios alongside Divya D’Souza, while Gupta also serves as a producer on the film through her own production banner.
The film’s plot centers on two estranged sisters who find themselves trapped overnight in their deceased grandmother’s deteriorating estate. Their search for hidden information forces them to navigate through dangerous creatures and deadly obstacles as they uncover long-buried family secrets connected to a cryptic language known as the Tongue. The production has garnered recognition, earning selection in the South Asian Canadian Film Federation’s Indo-Canadian Producers’ Lab and will be showcased at the Toronto Film Festival’s Indo-Canadian co-production market.
Weinstock expressed enthusiasm about the project, noting that Indian cinema has yet to produce an internationally successful horror film comparable to global hits. He described “Tongue” as a unique blend that could achieve worldwide appeal. Bhattacharya brings credentials as both a novelist and game designer, having previously co-written the horror series “Vakr,” slated for Netflix release in 2026. Gupta continues to expand her international presence, simultaneously developing her American feature film debut with the project “Arya” at the Toronto Film Festival.
