Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has alleged that Russia deployed ballistic missiles supplied by North Korea in recent attacks on Zaporizhzhia, a city in southeastern Ukraine. The strikes resulted in at least six deaths and left 19 others wounded, according to regional officials. Zelensky described the use of North Korean weaponry as a significant escalation, stating that Russia can no longer sustain its military operations without external support from its ally.
The overnight exchange of fire saw intense activity across multiple regions. Ukraine targeted a Russian online retail warehouse in Voronezh, while Russian forces conducted widespread strikes using approximately 120 drones and various missile types. Additional casualties were reported in other Ukrainian cities including Sumy, where two women were injured in drone attacks, and Kyiv, where a hospital sustained damage during air raids.
Zelensky highlighted Ukraine’s successful strike on a Russian petrochemical facility in western Siberia as a significant military achievement. He emphasized Ukraine’s commitment to conducting deeper strikes into Russian territory, framing such operations as necessary to demonstrate the importance of pursuing peace negotiations. This represents an ongoing pattern of tit-for-tat attacks as the conflict continues to intensify across both nations.
