High school football enters its second week of competition this Friday night with a more condensed schedule featuring six total matchups across the region. The reduced number of games stems from several head-to-head contests and four games that were already played on Thursday evening.
Three notable desert rivalries headline Friday’s slate of games. Desert Hot Springs will travel to Xavier Prep for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff, while Yucca Valley faces off against La Quinta and Coachella Valley takes on Rancho Mirage. Additional contests include Central from El Centro at Palm Desert, Palo Verde Valley at Shadow Hills, and Cathedral City against San Bernardino.
Desert teams showed strong performance during Thursday’s action, with all four participating squads securing victories. Indio defeated Indian Springs 28-7, Palm Springs blanked Grand Terrace 35-0, Desert Mirage topped San Jacinto Valley Academy 24-6, and Twentynine Palms edged Riverside Prep in a close 28-27 contest. Desert Christian Academy will compete Saturday at Arrowhead Christian, while Friday remains the primary focus for live scoring updates throughout the evening.
