Manchester City have accepted a transfer bid from Barcelona for midfielder Rodri, with the deal valued at 65.4 million pounds. The Spanish international has agreed to a four-year contract with the Catalan club and is expected to finalize his move to the Nou Camp next week.
Rodri, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2024, spent seven seasons at Manchester City following his 2019 arrival from Atletico Madrid. During his time at the Etihad Stadium, the 30-year-old made 298 appearances and won multiple trophies including four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, three League Cups, and the Champions League.
The midfielder had one remaining year on his City contract, and the club had been hoping to secure a contract extension. However, Rodri will now return to Spain as he departs English football. He recently underwent minor back surgery and missed City’s Community Shield match against Arsenal on Sunday.
