Charlotte Matus, a 14-year-old gymnast from Rockford, has earned selection to represent Team USA at the World Age Group Competitions in Nanjing, China this November. The young athlete secured roster spots in both Tumbling and Double Mini while also earning replacement-athlete status in Trampoline, showcasing her versatility across multiple disciplines within the sport.
Matus capped a standout competitive season with impressive results at the USA Gymnastics Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She captured the national title in Tumbling and medaled in all four events she entered, including bronze finishes in Double Mini, Individual Trampoline, and Mixed Synchronized Trampoline. Her selection for the international team was determined through consistent performances across three qualifying events throughout the season rather than a single competition.
The path to this achievement followed a difficult period. Prior to the previous season’s national championships, Matus dealt with a foot injury that required a walking boot and limited her training. Rather than letting the setback derail her goals, she committed to a new objective and accomplished it within 12 months. Matus is notably the only female Elite athlete currently competing across all three individual Trampoline and Tumbling disciplines at the national level.
