Hany Mukhtar opened the scoring for Nashville in the 27th minute with a well-taken half-volley after receiving a chipped pass from Daniel Lovitz. Columbus equalized through Mohamed Farsi’s first-touch finish in the 58th minute, then took the lead when André Gomes, the Portuguese midfielder who joined the Crew in February, converted a free kick from 27 yards out in the 68th minute.
The match took a dramatic turn during stoppage time. Reed Baker-Whiting headed home a corner kick in the 90th minute to level the score at 2-2, with the assist coming from Mukhtar. Just two minutes later, Andy Nájar sealed the victory with a low shot from the right side of the penalty area that found the back of the net.
