The Professional Golfers’ Association is expanding beyond traditional sports coverage with the launch of “PGA Tour Alter Ego,” a comedic unscripted series developed in partnership with Omaha Productions, the company founded by former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning. The show debuts this week on multiple platforms including YouTube and the PGA Tour’s official website, coinciding with the BMW Championship tournament.
The inaugural episode features professional golfer Wyndham Clark disguising himself to surprise and fool both fans and fellow competitors. A second installment will showcase Max Homa in similar fashion. According to Andy Weitz, the PGA Tour’s chief marketing officer, the organization recognizes an opportunity to engage a younger audience through entertainment-focused content that appeals to comedy enthusiasts and digital media consumers.
This comedy venture is part of a broader content strategy aimed at building fan engagement throughout the week and establishing connection points beyond weekend tournament play. The PGA Tour has recently invested in original programming including documentary series and player profiles, supported by a newly constructed 165,000-square-foot production facility in Florida. By controlling its own content pipeline, tour executives believe they can introduce new audiences to professional golf across various formats and streaming platforms.
ShipSticks, a golf equipment transportation service, serves as the program’s sponsor, integrating product placement throughout the episodes.
