Director Peter Ho-Sun Chan’s upcoming drama “The Road Not Taken” has secured international sales representation through Hong Kong-based Moebius Entertainment. The film is set to premiere in the Special Presentations section at the Toronto International Film Festival, marking Chan’s return to the prestigious event following last year’s screening of “She Has No Name.”
The drama features Zhou Xun in the lead role as Jia Jia, a television presenter grappling with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. The narrative unfolds as her condition progresses, exploring the deterioration of her professional composure and personal relationships, including her marriage and her bonds with family members portrayed by Wen Qi and Fifth Generation filmmaker Tian Zhuangzhuang.
Moebius Entertainment’s founder and chief executive Fred Tsui will oversee the film’s international distribution strategy. Tsui previously collaborated with Chan on “She Has No Name,” handling its international release. The company will present “The Road Not Taken” to buyers and programmers at the Toronto market and manage sales across all territories outside the film’s domestic market.
Tsui is transitioning to his new role as executive director of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society beginning September 23, though he has committed to steering this project’s global rollout before stepping back from new sales assignments.
