Academy Award-winning actress Olivia Colman has been announced as the newest guest star for the sixth season of the mystery comedy series “Only Murders in the Building.” The reveal came through a video shared on the show’s Instagram account Tuesday, featuring returning cast members Selena Gomez, Meryl Streep, and Martin Short.
The upcoming season will be set in London and marks a significant expansion of the show’s guest cast. The production has assembled an impressive lineup of British talent, including David Tennant, Sharon Horgan, Martin Freeman, Jim Broadbent, and Nicola Coughlan, among many others. Several cast members have previous experience with the long-running science fiction series “Doctor Who.”
Season 6 continues the storyline from the fifth season’s finale, following the amateur detective team as they travel to the United Kingdom to investigate the death of Cinda Canning. The season is currently being filmed in the U.K., with Steve Martin also returning alongside Gomez, Short, and Streep. The show remains under the creative direction of co-creators Martin and John Hoffman, with 20th Television producing the series for Hulu. A premiere date for the new season has not yet been announced.
