Depth remains a concern beyond the starting pair. Four-star recruit Nigel Glover, now entering his third year, represents the most promising candidate for significant contributions as a backup. Iowa State transfer Jack Sadowsky V and returner Payton Roth provide additional depth options. The critical question facing McGarigle involves whether McKinzie can replicate Uihlein’s ball-hawking production, which included interceptions and plays for loss that significantly impacted last season’s defensive success.
