Miley Cyrus has unveiled “Bass Persuades,” the lead single from her forthcoming tenth studio album of the same name. The dance-pop track features the artist declaring that “the kids don’t wanna dance” over synthesizers reminiscent of the 1980s, creating an ironic contrast between the song’s message and its upbeat, dancefloor-ready production.
Accompanying the single release is a music video directed by Mert Alas that showcases Cyrus performing at full pop star capacity. The visual depicts the singer inspiring patrons of a New York poker club to join her on the dance floor, blending nightlife aesthetics with contemporary pop sensibilities. Despite teasing the track with guitar imagery, the final version prioritizes electronic dance elements over rock instrumentation.
The announcement marks a significant moment for the artist, who has dropped her surname professionally and signed with Atlantic Records. “Bass Persuades” follows her 2025 album “Something Beautiful,” establishing a fresh creative direction. Cyrus has also revealed plans to headline two nights at the Hollywood Bowl in October, representing her first full concert performances in the United States since 2021.
