Marvel Studios announced its cast for a forthcoming X-Men reboot at D23 on Friday, featuring a notably younger ensemble than audiences have encountered in previous iterations. The studio revealed that Sadie Sink will portray Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Broadway performer Maya Boyd as Storm. Adam Driver joins the production as the villain Mr. Sinister, appearing via video during the announcement.
The casting represents a deliberate strategic shift for Marvel’s mutant franchise. Studios president Kevin Feige indicated during the event that the revealed roster does not represent the complete team lineup. Driver expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, noting that he and Feige had discussed his involvement with the MCU over several years before settling on these particular characters.
This new iteration will coexist alongside legacy X-Men content, as several actors from previous Fox films will return in December’s “Avengers: Doomsday,” including Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. The reboot is scheduled for theatrical release on May 5, 2028. No casting announcement was made for the role of Wolverine, though speculation continues about potential appearances from established actors in the character.
