Teyana Taylor is bringing together a prestigious ensemble cast for her feature film directorial debut, “Get Lite,” a Paramount production scheduled for theatrical release in August 2027. The project will feature Storm Reid and former NFL player Ceyair Wright in lead roles, with Tony Award winner Leslie Odom, Jr. and Oscar nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor rounding out the principal cast. The film centers on a sheltered dance student who encounters unexpected inspiration, romance, and community in New York City’s subway system.
The movie will showcase Litefeet, a dynamic dance style with deep roots in Harlem, Taylor’s native neighborhood. The screenplay was crafted by Maurice Williams based on an earlier script by Eric Gross that gained recognition on the Black List in 2020. Production is slated to commence this month in New York City, with additional cast members including Woody McClain, as well as Jodie Turner-Smith and Asante Blackk in currently negotiated roles.
Taylor, a Golden Globe winner and Oscar and Grammy nominee, will also serve as a producer on the project through her banner The Aunties, alongside several other industry producers. Storm Reid is similarly involved in producing duties while maintaining her acting role. The film represents a significant creative venture for Taylor, who recently earned acclaim for her performance in “One Battle After Another.”
