Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” continues to dominate South Korea’s theatrical landscape, securing its fifth consecutive weekend victory during the September 4-6 period. The epic production earned $5.9 million across nearly 700,000 admissions, commanding over 60% of the weekend market share. The achievement marks a significant milestone for the film, which has now surpassed 10 million total admissions since its August 5 release, accumulating $83.2 million domestically.
The superhero sequel “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” held steady in second place during its sixth week in theaters, generating just under $1 million from approximately 147,000 viewers. Despite trailing far behind the market leader, the Marvel film has accumulated a respectable $67.9 million from over 8.7 million admissions throughout its theatrical run across South Korea.
Horror entry “Obsession,” directed by Curry Barker, debuted in third position with $1.1 million in weekend earnings. Meanwhile, several Korean productions rounded out the top tier, including the family drama “The Journey to Gyeongju” in fourth place and crime-drama “Portrait of a Family” in fifth. The overall weekend market generated $9.8 million, reflecting the typical post-summer box office decline.
