The epic film earned $10.6 million across 2,182 theaters, drawing over 1.3 million viewers during the August 21-23 frame. According to Korean Film Council tracking data, the blockbuster commanded nearly two-thirds of the market’s total revenue.
The film’s remarkable staying power has propelled its cumulative South Korean earnings to $56.8 million since its August 5 release, accumulating over 7.1 million admissions in the process. Meanwhile, the superhero tentpole “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” maintained second place in its fourth weekend, generating $2.9 million and accounting for approximately 18 percent of weekend business.
Horror entry “Insidious: Out of the Further” claimed third position in its debut frame with $547,555, while South Korea’s “Teenieping: Legend of the Whale Heartstone” rounded out the top four. The overall market generated $16.1 million for the weekend, showing a notable decrease from the previous week’s $22.3 million total.
