Actor Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming film “Captain India” will begin principal photography in London starting September 1st, with filming expected to conclude by the end of October. The project, directed by Shimit Amin, is being produced by T-Series, Baweja Studios, and Dopamine Studios. Amin previously directed the acclaimed 2007 sports film “Chak De! India,” which has maintained its popularity with audiences over the years.
The film draws inspiration from a historical event in which India successfully evacuated its citizens from a conflict-affected nation. The screenplay has been developed by Nash Vazifdar, Sanchit Gupta, and Priyadarshee Shrivastava. Alongside Aaryan, the production will feature an ensemble cast. This marks Amin’s return to feature filmmaking after a considerable hiatus, though he recently directed an episode for the BBC and Netflix series “A Suitable Boy.”
Originally announced in 2021 under different creative leadership, the project underwent significant changes before moving forward with its current team. “Captain India” is scheduled for theatrical release on August 13, 2027, coinciding with India’s Independence Day weekend. Aaryan has recently appeared in several notable films and maintains an active project slate including “Naagzilla.”
