Olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs has publicly challenged Georges St. Pierre to a freestyle wrestling competition, identifying the retired UFC legend as his top dream opponent. The wrestling star made his pitch during an appearance on “The Ariel Helwani Show” following his recent victory over Sean Brady at a Real American Freestyle event on August 22.
During the interview, Burroughs expressed his deep admiration for St. Pierre while extending the invitation to compete. He emphasized his respect for the former fighter’s accomplishments and his desire simply to share the mat with such a storied competitor. Burroughs proposed a specific date and location for the potential matchup, suggesting Las Vegas on October 3 as the ideal setting for their encounter.
St. Pierre, who has been retired from professional competition since 2019, last fought in 2017 when he captured the UFC middleweight championship. He received induction into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2020. Burroughs, meanwhile, remains active in wrestling competition and has his next scheduled match against Magomed Kurbanaliev taking place at RAF Moscow on September 5.
