The 26th World Soundtrack Awards will celebrate the year’s finest film and television composers when the ceremony takes place on October 10. Desplat showcases his versatility across three films: a dynamic action score for “Jurassic World Rebirth,” a lyrical symphonic composition for Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein,” and a suspenseful jazz-infused soundtrack for “L’homme qui rétrécit.” Guðnadóttir demonstrates range across multiple genres, from the gothic punk score of “The Bride!” to jazzy vocal work in “Hedda” and experimental horn arrangements in “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.”
The Television Composer of the Year category includes Emmy winners David Fleming and Jeff Russo, along with Grammy and Academy Award winner Finneas O’Connell. Other notable nominees are Martin Phipps, recognized for his work on prestige dramas, and Dave Porter, who has collaborated extensively with screenwriter Vince Gilligan on series including “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul.” The awards will also recognize excellence in original songwriting, with K-pop artist Kim Eun-jae and composer Mark Sonnenblick nominated for their work on Netflix’s “KPop Demon Hunters.”
