Jhené Aiko has unveiled her latest studio album, Westside Whimsy, which dropped today. The 20-track LP features a notable partnership between the singer and rapper Kendrick Lamar on the mid-tempo single “So Good,” a composition penned by Lamar himself. The track showcases both artists trading verses and blending their distinctive vocal styles throughout the piece.
Beyond the Kendrick Lamar collaboration, Westside Whimsy includes additional guest appearances from a roster of hip-hop and R&B artists including Larry June, Ab-Soul, Tyga, and OHMA. This album marks Aiko’s follow-up project to her 2020 release, Chilombo. When discussing the new work earlier this year with Rolling Stone, Aiko characterized Westside Whimsy not as a conventional musical project, but rather as an embodiment of a lifestyle and personal philosophy.
The collaboration between Aiko and Lamar adds to the latter’s recent string of high-profile musical ventures. Lamar released his album GNX in 2024 and previously headlined the Super Bowl XXVII halftime show, earning an Emmy for Outstanding Music Direction. Most recently, he earned a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance alongside the Clipse for their track “Chains & Whips.”
