Netflix has announced plans to release a documentary centered on Jessica Simpson in 2027, with acclaimed filmmaker Joe Pearlman directing the project. Pearlman, who earned BAFTA recognition for his work on the recent Robbie Williams documentary, will oversee the production that aims to explore the entertainer’s life and professional journey comprehensively.
Simpson’s career has spanned multiple decades and industries since first appearing on the reality television program Newlyweds in the early 2000s. The pop star has achieved significant commercial success, including worldwide record sales exceeding 20 million units and establishing a highly profitable celebrity fashion brand. Additionally, she published a bestselling memoir titled Open Book.
After stepping away from music production for 15 years, Simpson returned to recording in 2025 with two Nashville Canyon extended plays and has resumed performance activities. The upcoming documentary will mark a return to on-camera storytelling for Simpson, who has stated that authenticity has been central to her achievements throughout her career.
