Anatomica Films has partnered with New Zealand-based Black Mandala to handle international sales for three horror features. The agreement grants Black Mandala worldwide distribution rights to “Within Madness,” “Vessel,” and “The Thirteenth Gate,” all written and directed by J. M. Stelly. Stelly produced the trio alongside Johnny Stassi under the Anatomica Films banner, with negotiations led by Black Mandala co-founder Michael Kraetzer.
“Within Madness” draws inspiration from actual events, examining the aftermath of filmmaker Mark Chapel and collaborator Donovan Summers’ arrests. Investigators uncover disturbing evidence including human remains, execution recordings, and film materials documenting prolonged violence. The narrative traces how the two men descended into shared brutality through prison interviews and recovered footage. “Vessel” centers on a pastor named Joseph whose world unravels when his wife Mary disappears while pregnant. As Joseph revisits the events preceding her vanishing, supernatural disturbances suggest a malevolent presence attempting to enter their world through human anguish.
“The Thirteenth Gate” follows investigator Nathan Hale as he awakens in an abandoned industrial facility with no recollection of his arrival. While searching for his missing wife Marissa, Hale encounters a surreal nightmare landscape that shifts and transforms based on his own psychological traumas. An entity named M orchestrates an occult ceremony aimed at opening thirteen interdimensional passages. The film combines psychological horror with body horror and occult themes. “Within Madness” will debut at Toronto’s film market before all three titles are presented to buyers at the AFM.
