Jacob Chase, director of the recent horror installment “Insidious: Out of the Further,” has been tapped to direct an upcoming thriller titled “Sleepover” for Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Universal Pictures. The project, characterized as embodying the quintessential sleepover nightmare scenario, is scheduled for theatrical release on October 8, 2027.
Chase will collaborate with screenwriter Bryce McGuire, known for his work on “Night Swim,” who adapted the screenplay from his original short story. This partnership marks another venture for the two creatives in the horror genre. Jason Blum will serve as producer, with Chase, McGuire, and Bea Sequiera listed as executive producers on the film.
The announcement comes following the strong performance of Chase’s most recent project, which debuted to $60 million worldwide during its opening weekend. Chase’s track record in the horror space includes directing “Come Play” and last year’s “Bad Boy,” establishing him as an emerging voice in the genre. The film will be produced by Cinescape Entertainment and presented by both Universal and Blumhouse Atomic Monster.
