Paramount Pictures is moving forward with a sequel to the 2003 romantic comedy “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” with original star Kate Hudson serving as a producer on the project. The studio has enlisted Stacey Sher, an accomplished producer known for films including “Pulp Fiction” and “Django Unchained,” to work alongside Hudson through her production company. The sequel remains in its initial development phase, with the studio and filmmakers hoping to reunite Hudson and her co-star Matthew McConaughey for the follow-up.
The creative team is currently searching for a screenwriter to develop the story, which means major casting decisions will likely depend on the direction the script takes. Plot specifics for the sequel have not yet been finalized. Representatives for both Hudson and McConaughey have not yet commented on their potential involvement in the project.
The sequel arrives as Hollywood continues capitalizing on nostalgia from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Recent releases like “The Devil Wears Prada 2” and “Toy Story 5” have performed exceptionally well at the box office. The original film, which earned nearly $180 million worldwide, told the story of a magazine columnist who attempts to sabotage an advertising executive’s romance as part of a magazine assignment, only to find genuine love in the process.
