According to police statements, the preliminary investigation has revealed no indications of foul play or suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. An acquaintance of Panettiere initiated the emergency call. While the official cause of death remains pending an autopsy, dispatch audio obtained by news outlets referenced discussions of overdose and cardiac arrest during the emergency response.
Panettiere had been candid throughout her career about her struggles with substance abuse. She took a hiatus from the entertainment industry in 2016 before making her return in 2023 with “Scream VI.” Earlier this year, she released a memoir titled “This Is Me: A Reckoning,” in which she detailed her personal battles and experiences growing up in Hollywood.
