Google has expanded its Wallet service to include a new feature designed for minors, allowing parents to establish and oversee spending accounts for their children. The addition enables guardians to create supervised digital wallets linked to their own profiles, giving them direct control over their kids’ financial transactions.
Through this parental management system, adults can transfer money to minor accounts, establish daily spending caps, and receive notifications whenever purchases occur. The platform also offers enhanced security measures, permitting parents to temporarily disable payments or completely freeze accounts on devices that have been lost or stolen. Young users can make contactless payments using Android and Wear OS devices at any location accepting Google Pay.
The new wallet feature integrates with Google’s existing Family Link parental control system, which already provides tools for managing screen time and app usage. Google initially introduced these family-focused features in 2025 before extending them across all Android devices.
This wallet expansion represents part of a broader initiative by Google to enhance its payment platform. Recent updates have included real-time flight information displayed on lock screens for stored boarding passes and package tracking capabilities that pull shipping data directly from Gmail accounts.
