Phoebe Bridgers has announced an unconventional way to introduce her new “Lost Weekend” album to fans. The artist will showcase the record across planetariums in over 30 cities during a five-day global premiere event scheduled for August 10-15. The listening sessions will be accompanied by specially designed visual presentations to create an immersive experience for attendees.
Two distinct audiovisual formats will accompany the album playback. Laser Fantasy will provide a high-energy laser experience featuring dynamic animations and light effects synchronized with the music. Alternatively, night-sky photographer Babek Tafreshi has created a nature-focused presentation filmed across nearly 20 countries without computer effects, showcasing landscapes from Madagascar’s starry skies to Iceland’s Northern Lights and Texas storms. The North American lineup includes 25 cities, while nine additional international locations will participate.
Maintaining exclusivity before the official August 13 release, organizers will collect all phones and smartwatches in Yondr pouches during the planetarium events to prevent early leaks. Spotify is partnering with Bridgers and her Dead Oceans label to produce the shows. For those unable to attend planetarium screenings, the artist will host midnight listening parties in over 300 cities on the album’s release date.
The “Lost Weekend” album marks Bridgers’ first solo release since 2020. Her recent involvement with the Boygenius project and subsequent tour significantly expanded her audience, building considerable anticipation for this new solo work.
