My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way announced plans for a new studio album during the band’s San Antonio concert on Saturday. Speaking to fans at the Alamodome, Way expressed the group’s long-standing desire to record fresh material, emphasizing that supporters have earned another release after their dedicated fandom over the years.
The potential new record would mark the band’s first full-length album since 2010’s “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.” While My Chemical Romance reunited in 2019 and released a single called “The Foundations of Decay” in 2022, the group has not completed a full album in over sixteen years.
The band’s schedule remains packed through the end of the year, with upcoming performances at multiple music festivals and a five-night residency at the Hollywood Bowl concluding on Halloween. Following a month-long tour of Southeast Asia ending in late November, the group indicated it hopes to enter the studio to begin work on the new album.
