Linda Cardellini is giving fans a preview of what to expect from “Crystal Lake,” the upcoming “Friday the 13th” prequel series launching October 15 on Peacock. The actress portrays Pamela Voorhees, the iconic antagonist from the original film franchise, in a show that explores the character’s backstory before the events depicted in the 1980 movie.
During an interview at an HBO Max Emmy event, Cardellini described the series as containing substantial amounts of graphic violence. She revealed that the production relied heavily on practical special effects, resulting in particularly intense on-set moments. The actress noted that the extended television format allows for significantly more storytelling compared to a traditional 90-minute horror film, incorporating character development and narrative depth alongside the scares.
Cardellini expressed enthusiasm about playing a different type of role than she typically encounters in horror productions. Rather than portraying a victim being hunted, she gets to explore the perspective of the character doing the pursuing. The eight-episode series also stars William Catlett as Levon Brooks, though specific details about his character have not been disclosed.
